I was looking forward to a number of things before I started, 1 being the girls, and the other, the College Football Team!
For my old school I was captain for 5 years and played every game. So without saying too much, I cant be that bad!
Trials started last wednesday, which I went to expecting to get into the A team. This may have been a little cocky, but surely a captain for a school team can easily get you into a college team...... cant it?......
The coach asked us all for positions that we prefered playing in, and I went in for the sturdy midfield role. As some of you may know that play or watch football, midfield is probably the hardest position to play on the pitch. You have to be back defending, and forward attacking, while winning all the headers, tackles and anything else around the centre circle!
I had 1 and a half hours to impress and I knew I had to do something pretty spectacular. I started off pretty well and scored a goal, which was no fluke! :-)
The rest of the game I didnt really stand out too much and definately didnt play as well as I could have.
The trials had finished and he read out the names of the players who were in the team.
As he read down the list I stood there in anticipation, hoping my name would be read out. But no.
Its hard to explain the feeling you get..... Rejected, Angry, Sad, Alone......
The worst thing was not the fact of failing to get into the team, it was the fact I knew I was better than most of the players that did make it.
Was 1 and a half hours long enough to pick a team from?
Im not one of those players that stands out, and I also knew alot of other people that also didnt make it that should have easily.
Looks like its the volleyball team for me now! :-)
Thanks for Reading

Well there's always the girls! ;-)
The good thing is that I do actually play football for a team outside of a college aswell, which is great fun!
Football wont get rid of me that easily! :-)
Hope you get a second chance.
If you play upfront you know you have to score goals......
If youre in defence you have to stope goals going in.....
and midfield?........ we have to do everything! :-)
I'm a midfielder and you're right, it's the hardest position on the pitch!
