The day had been long, dark clouds festering over the city. Something was going down, he could feel it.

My name is Grix Thraves, the private dick, and I picked my nose while I lay back in my leather chair. Nothing, not a single thing all day.

And then, just as I was about to leave, a knock came at the door.

A lady walked in, I had seen her before somewhere.

"Evening Sniper, long time no see." I said, trying not to pay attention to her.

Sniper pushed back her golden hair, and looked casually at the floor.

"Yes Grix, it's been a while."

She played with the door like a puppy, teasing me like some evil little kid.

"I'm worried Grix, I think someone is after me."

She played with her hair again, I tried to avert my eyes.

"Why? What's going on?" I replied to her, trying to keep a cool voice.

"It's that er-no character... he won't leave me alone, I told him I would go to the police, I told him..."

I chewed my lip, finally bringing my eyes to hers.

"So what do you want me to do about it?"

She lowered her head, and gazed at me down her nose.

"You know how to kill a man, don't you? You just aim the gun, feel the trigger... and squeeze..."

She turned her back to me, walking out of my life after leaving me with no choice but to hunt that er-no down.

God I hate women.
