Ok, we all agree that the mating game is fraught with distress, unhappiness, nerves and sometimes triumph.

But then you got to work at being together, find time for your friends etc (and invariably when a mate gets a new woman, you wont see him for a couple of months) etc etc.

Why can't we be like the animals?

1 month in the year we're in season. Anything goes, and the females are just as up for it as the males.
If we catch you, you're ours and nobody cares.

The rest of the year?
We hang out with mates, eating and mucking about with nary a thought of mating.
Sometimes we could fight for tribe leader, other than that we just mill about and look casual.

Seems so simple

Yeah, okay, my mind was thinking "12 minus 1 is 11" at the time of typing.

Sounds like a good idea .. but what about those of us who aren't widely regarded as 'horny' - it would only give us 1 month out of 11 to find one of the few people who would be willing to do the deed with us.

Before you ask: Yes, I am talking about myself here (I'm a fat bloke in a wheelchair) so my comments are purely subjective.

Still, nature is all about survival of the fittest so maybe it'd be a good thing? Those with the duff genes (my disability is genetic) wouldn't get the chance to procreate and therefore those duff genes would get slowly removed from the gene pool. Burger ...

Yes but if we were more like animals, especially dogs, we would get the situation of endless males running around sniffing peoples bums and trying to hump anything. Whether that anything be male, female or even concrete (lampposts).

I wish we were just more continental and have a mistress or like the Mormons who have more than one wife. Having a mistress or an more than one wife frees up more time for, well you know.

As for you Goatboy if your band even makes it relatively big, the only problem you will have is with your morals, whether to abuse you "rock idol" status for sexual pleasures. I know what I would do!

No, not rape and assault.

With both sexs in season at the same time, one thing on everyone's mind and nobody cares for "Umm..er...would you like to go see a movie?..."
Just "You look good, I'm horny, let's get it on"

We rut then we spend the rest of the year playing video-games, beating our chests and hunting for food.

I'm praying ferverantly I come back as a Lion.
Or a Silverback.
That would rule

Then you hit the legalities, Rape and Sexual Assualt, or you can go down the straight and narrow and lose just as much through divorce, we can't win.

I'm steerng well clear of any relationships at the moment. Seems to be a bad time for them - everyone I know who is (or was!) in a long-term relationship has had it turn to crap.

I was engaged for a long time to a girl I'd known for 15 years, and that failed.

One friend has had two relationships - including one engagement - fail.

Another friend had a marriage fail after just one year.

And my closest friend has just had a long-term relationship hit the buffers after about 12 years, and he has 3 kids.

The common theme? All dumped for someone else by 'their' woman. And no, there's nothing wrong with any of us - even if I do say so myself, each of them would rank among the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and they've all been crapped on.

So I'm not looking for a new relationship any time soon.

Your idea scores highly with me, Goaty!
