It won't be world war. It's not major alliances of major powers (like France, Britain and Russia against Germany, Austria and Italy).
It's a little cult that kicked big boy America in the balls and hid behind a a group of other kids.
Now America seems to be dead set on beating up the culprit, even if it means pasting the other kids in the process.

Intellegence gathering? the Guld war was all about blowing up silos and roads, it wasn't a terrorist attack retaliation.
