The terrorists didn't awaken a sleeping giant.
They awakened a giant busy watching "Who Wants to be a Millionaire."
Same giant, though.
Bred in the USA:
Marcher with American flag on why he was part of small mob threatening a mosque and taunting Arab Americans, many of whom were born here, just as he was:
"I was born here more."
And why aren't all you taunters of Arabs lined up at your local recruiting office?
Going to extremes:
The Rev. Jerry Falwell on American decadence and the terrorist attacks:
"God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve."
For those wondering what a Christian Osama bin Laden might sound like.
Know your enemy :
If you want to know what is worse than burning the American flag, it is waving it while threatening other Americans who happen to share the same ethnic or religious background as the terrorists, by the way.
Back to the garden:
News Item: Vows made to rebuild World Trade Center.
No.
Gardens of flowers instead, and green spaces and places to sit and think.
What goes up:
Note to officials O'Hare Airport:
You have been very busy, QT knows.
But you might want to take a moment and remove from your Web site the drawing of a jumbo jet making a tight circle around the Sears Tower.
Mistaken identity:
News Item: Poll finds Americans evenly split over whether Arabs, including U.S. citizens, should be required to carry special identification cards.
What is terrifying, even in a week of terror, is that this question was even asked.
A shot in the dark:
S.R., an Internet reader, e-mails:
"None of this would have happened if passengers were allowed to carry side arms onto airplanes."
Check is in the mail:
Uncomfortable Political Question that Will Have to be Asked:
Now that we are at war, when will the moment come to cut short the peacetime tax cut?
Son of a gun:
News Item: Commander in Afghanistan's Taliban says Osama bin Laden has been training his fighters in the use of chemical weapons.
QT's father, who would read the evening newspaper while a young QT was playing on the living room floor, every once in a while would lower the newspaper, look down at his son and say:
"I'd like to apologize again for the world we're leaving to you."
QT's sons have now heard these words.
