So. Sequels. *Philharmonics can be heard*. What’s so bad about sequels anyway?

I’m sitting here listening to Blink 182. Now, anyone who has listened to Blink 182 in the past will agree that all their songs are just about identical. You can spot a Blink 182 song miles off, because they’re all the same! However, every Blink 182 song is fantastic, and you can listen to them over and over again. In essence, every song is a sequel, yet people never tire of buying them. No one ever complains because they’re all great!

Why do people always make such a fuss about sequels in videogames then? In every PS2 vs. XXX console argument, you can guarantee the word “sequels” will crop up somewhere. Admittedly, we do have sequels, but not as much as everyone makes out and it’s not a bad thing anyway. When you complete a game, you always want more, especially if it’s a really good game. Tomb Raider is a good example. For reasons unbeknown to me, the Tomb Raider series were extremely popular. There were (I think) 5 games released on the PSone ever a span of 5 years. However, they still sold just as well, even with little improvements, because every one was a good game. It doesn’t matter if each one was more of the same, because people really liked the last Tomb Raider, and wanted to play another Tomb Raider. Imagination and vision is always welcome in games, but they all just end up spawning a franchise anyway. Mario has had more sequels than I can count, and nobody really complains. It’s the same with Sonic, Virtua Fighter, Tekken, the list goes on.

So, next time a sequel comes out, don’t immediately dismiss it. Think to yourself “Did I like the last one?” If you did, buy the next one. Chances are it will be every bit as good as the last one and you’ll enjoy it just as much.

Not true but im sure you realise that, female dog (wouldn't go through the filter)please 1 and female dog please 2 by Snoop, Dre, Eminem and a few other wannabe gangsters. There quite a few more but I can't think if them.
