Ok, I'm not taking the mick or anything with this post.

I've never really been into relgion, so I don't know hardly anything about it.

What I Was to know is:

How come Jesus was an arab and he was "The king of the jews", yet people who are christians believe in his teachings?

Bethlehem was in Israel 2000 years ago

The Romans kicked the Jews off the land several hundered years later, and the Palestinians took the region over.

In the 1950s the Israelis went to war with the Palestinians and recaptured roughly half of *their* land back.

Both countries have a valid claim to ownership of the land, but neither want to give any land they already own over.

The Palestinian army was destroyed so their people resort to terrorism against Israel.

Sigh..... You are all clueless! :)

Israel IS Palestine. They are both the same country. This is why there is much tension in Israel with Palestinians attacking them on a regular basis. Britain made a few mistakes during the war. They promised 3 different things - to allow Jews to make their own state in Palestine (ie. follow their religious belief of Zionism to make a homeland), they promised the Palestinians they could live free from the Turks which ruled them before and during the war and they also promised they would rule Palestine with France as a mandate.

After World War 2 Britain moved into Palestine and ruled it as a mandate thus breaking the other two promises. As you can imagine the Jews who had moved into the country and the Palestinians were very annoyed. The Jews formed terrorist groups and drove Britain out of the country and when they left thinking it wasn't worth the hassle to keep it as a mandate they declared Palestine as now the new state of Israel thus causing all the tension today as the Palestinians want their land back.

So when Jesus was alive he lived in PALESTINE. And yes Bethlehem WAS in Palestine and still technically is. Therefore yes he was an Arab as he lived in the middle east!

He is called the "King of the Jews" as in the old testament the prophets and other people said that God would send his son - the messiah - to Earth. Thus when Jesus was sent to Earth some Jewish people accepted him as the Messiah. Messiah means King so he was their King.

However others didn't believe he was the messiah as they expected him to be more glorious (not a village carpenter) and stayed Jewish.

Christianity comes from Judaism we read the old testament BUT ALSO read the new testament.

I hope I have shed some light on your troubled little faces.

Jesus would have been brown skinned,

How come in EVERY SINGLE

What's

You're wrong there. In this country, in places where white people are predominant, Jesus is shown as a white person. However, throughout the world, Jesus is shown, mainly, as a man of particular local tradition.

In Africa, for example, he would normally be shown as an African. You take my point?

See Ya ;-)

PinkPig

P.s. Though Jesus himself was a Jew, the Jewish do not actually believe that he was the son of God. Christianity is a religion which believes in Christ (Jesus). It would be impossible for Jesus to be a Christian, thus belonging to a religion which believe in himself!

(Maybe I should set up PinkPig-ianity....) ;-))

I think so, but people from that whole area are Arabs.

but he> wasn't an Arab in the sense of the word,

Sorry? What sense of the word are there?

perhaps he wasn't dark-skinned
> because Mary didn't come from there...

Didn't MAry come from Nazerath or something? Which isn't that far from Bethlehem.

Ant, everyone born in that part of the world are brown skinned. Fact.

No wonder that bloke went mad and thought he was the son of God if he was the only white person for hundreds of miles!

Oh yeah, there's now evidence of many bible stories being true. The story of Sodom and Gomorrah (however you spell it,) is meant to be true, as my pastor showed us some pics off the internet from where he went on holiday. He visited the places where Sodom and Gomorroh supposedly used to be, and found some very interesting shapes, some of them regular.

They also found sulphar balls, and guess what God used to destroy those 2 cities?? Sulphur...

I'm sorry if I sound really stupid here, as I don't look much into the facts of Christianity (I just believe in him from the impact he has made on my own life,) but wasn't Jesus born in Bethlehem?? That's in Israel, right?

Perhaps he came from there, but he wasn't an Arab in the sense of the word, as I believe Bonus and CJC have already explained...also, perhaps he wasn't dark-skinned because Mary didn't come from there...

Whether he was the son of God and a virgin mother is another question entirely, he could easily have been a raving lunatic, either way, he did *exist*.
