and that statement was from tony the owner of SR
8 turned up out of the possible 12, them 3 had the best idea! First up we went to the chasms to look for some early herring or mackerel, skipper was awarding double points for the first fish of the season, after 10 minutes of tense fishing it resulted in Tony Palmer catching a launce, which was quickly followed by almost everyone catching them.
Ballen and callig where taken from around the reef and a small codling on the end of the drift. Fishing was very slow, so a move to perwick was the answer. Nothing at first, but as the skipper said " might be some ling about", i quickly had 2 ling in two drops. A few more ling and callig were caught, and a solitary 2 1/2lb codling.
No pools were taken as there was no fish over 5lb caught and there wasn't 5 species reached by anyone, poor nights fishing!

A new rule has been introduced, a pink rod reel and line has been donated, so who ever makes a prat out of themselves on the boat, that person has to use the pink rod the following week. In tonights case it is Graham Newsome, after tangling me countless times, losing about 17rigs, winging about fishing in too snaggy ground and too close to pots, and didn't take any recommended advice from the skipper on what tactics to use. So good luck with the pink rod
