Nintendo didn't exactly splash out on the N64 in the UK did they, we didn't get quite a lot of games that were Japanese only, we didn't get the 64-DD, we didn't get half the stuff that were released in other countries.

Sony however spent a hell of a lot of money on advertising for their games and appliances, commercials poster campaigns etc...
The playstation then was the victim of mass piracy, playststions were being 'chipped' and games copied which means that the games were having a lot of money spent on them with advertising but wernet being sold like they should have been due to them being copied then sold over and over to thousands of Playstation owners across the UK.

The N64 was not a victim of this piracy so every game it sold it got the full price so in that respect Nintedno were making a decent profit wheras Sony wen't selling as well.

So you could say that Sony were loosing out on money and Nintendo were doing just fine so when you think about it, pound for pound Nintendo probably did the best out of the two consoles.

The N64 waste of time indeed, Sheesh!

This time round tough Nintendo have everything sorted, expect advertising everywhere you go Nintendo are surely going to be trying to dominate the European market this year round and with the Gamecube's popularity already quite high before the console is even released and with lots of hype soon to come expect Nintendo to do very well in these 'console wars'.

Sony with the PS2 are doing quite well but with a drip dry flow of good games at the start of the consoles release they need something to pull it up and with the release of teh Gamecube expected to have a healty amount of quality games dur to be relaesed close to the consoles launch expect Nintendo to do extremely well with the Gamecube and maybe steal the top spot of Sony.

Also the gamecube is unlikely to fall to to piracy like the Playstation did, granted the Gamecube probably could be 'chipped' but the cost of the discs to put the games on will be expected to be high so there is no real point in doing this. The PS2 however will most likely be pirated and loose out once again to making decent money from there games and Nintendo will regin supreme from profits made.

As for the Sega and the Dreamcast well thats already lost out o the bigger competitiors and the X-Box dosen't seem to have that much popularity at the moment and with the launch date of the Gamecube set to be soon, Bill Gates machine dosen't look like it's going to get the publics attetion like Sony and Nintendo do.

Thanks
Andy

Good point!

Yeah Nintendo probably made more money from there games when you put it that way but Sony made more games and sold a whole lot of consoles but whatever way you look at it both companies have something going for them.

that is all true. Nintendo are more interested in making good sales in Japan and America. we are so minor to them.
