Well, looks like the reason for the HL2 delay has surfaced: for any of you who haven't seen it yet, check the http://halflife2.net news updates over the last 2 days. The source code was stolen from right under Valve's noses, meaning they've got a lot of editing to do before they can release the final version of the game. Poor show on their part for the bad security, but I'm really disappointed some would do this - this game represented a huge step forward for games in general with the source engine, and the developers deserved the rewards from it. November 30th sounds the earliest possible date it could be, so I'm hoping it'll be out for then, but I still wouldn't count on that..

Easy - people need the source code to do things like create CD cracks for piracy and hacked cheats for on-line play. It's not big and it's not clever, but it's a fact of life and not worth getting too excited about.
It's just pretty sadistic that some one did this.

Oh come on! It's not the reason for the delay - it's just a handy excuse. Granted, they'll be some editing to do, I'll guarantee you there are already NoCD hacks out there now despite the fact there aren't any CDs yet, and multi-player cheats well under way, but it's not a HUGE deal.
