We were then taken via car by the people who organised the holiday to what would be our home for the forthcoming two weeks. It's luxurious-as are most villas in the Algarve. The beautiful living room is only marred by the fact that our TV only has 2 good channels, and although the kitchen is small, it's very cosy.
One of the best aspects of the villa is the rather large swimming pool. When you've come from a day out at the beach, or from lunch at a pub, you'll feel as though you've been left in an oven for ten minutes. What can cure this? Well, a short dip in the pool is the perfect answer.
Some screaming children run by holding buckets of water. One little boy spills some over me, but I don't mind-it's really rather refreshing.
I sit up and marvel as my eyes explore our local beach. A small cliff looms over me, casting a shadow. Quite a few people have joined me and my family on the sandy shores of Portugal, but there is still plenty of room.
The sea slowly laps over the wet sand. The water is very cold, but what do you expect? Ater all, it is the Atlantic Ocean. A middle-aged man rides a large wave, letting the foam take him across the smooth, yellow grains of sand. He gewts to his feet, laughing joyously.
At this I point I look over my shoulder at the beach bar, which serves tasty snacks and cold beverages all day long. I stand up, brush the sand off my tanned body, and slowly trek towards the concrete steps which lead me to the bar. As I walk, the sun begins to set. The gorgeous orange sky compliments the peaceful scene, just like the lovely people here compliment the beauty of the Algarve.
I relax on the warm stool, sipping on my ice-cold Fanta. The view was superb, but nothing compared to the awe-inspiring sights I saw on our fourth day.
We had travelled up to the mountains, where we decided we'd enjoy a pub lunch, before taking in the amazing view from one of the highest points in Portugal.
After my surprisingly normal cheeseburger and chips, we climbed even higher. Once we found a gap in the huge forest we were situated in, I got out the famous video camera from the boot of my black (and rather rusty) rented Honda. I recorded the picturesque landscape for everyone at home to see, but they really had to experience it in person to truly know the full glory of the sight we were seeing.
Over the past 2 weeks I have intensely loved the food being served here. Some of the dishes I've had (and that includes the curry I ate on the second night) have been truly remarkable. The Chicken Pirri-Pirri especially tantalised my taste-buds. But perhaps one of the most important aspects to consider when trying out some of the fantastic Portugese restaurants available, is the setting. An enchanting setting always makes for a delicious meal.
There are many other places to visit than just beaches and restaurants. The cities are always interesting places to go, with many stores and monuments. Also, the nightlife is of a good quality as well-with many top class bars and clubs.
I hope I have explained to you why the Algarve is such an enticing place to go. I recommend it to all of you. As I wrote in the topic heading, if you want to find Portugese perfection, head to the amazing Algarve.
Thanks for reading, Ant.

Would like to, but I don't think my parents have the money. A one-off thing.
I went to a place called Carvoeiro.
I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and it was a nice read as well. You going again next year?
