One thing I often here is “Nintendo are aimed!” well they are wrong. If I heard Sony have much more and better Adult only titles I wouldn’t argue. When it comes to adults only Nintendo suffer and it has become evident to me that Nintendo are trying to win over the adult audience.

It is understandable that throughout the last quarter of the 20th century people would view Nintendo as a childish company. Pokémon was released and even Goldeneye was toned down in the blood sense. Nintendo soon started to change their image, something they need to do in order to survive. Rare had no holds barred in the heavily realistic and extremely violent Perfect Dark and with titles such as Resident Evil 2 and Eternal Darkness on and coming to the N64 it was starting to look as if Nintendo would have more than Turok to satisfy the adult gamers.

It seemed to me as if Nintendo tried to make their cute games appeal to adults, Jet Force Gemini a violent game that did look as if it was aimed at a young generation, adults who bought this may see that cute graphics doesn’t make a game childish and then of course there is Conker the most adult oriented console game out. But when it comes to Nintendo’s next generation campaign things started to go wrong.

Acclaim were now making the highly popular Turok series something which helped Nintendo pull in the adults on the Playstation as well and with yet no confirmation of Shadowman 2econd coming Acclaim have caused Nintendo a problem, they need to do something themselves. Buying a share in the horror company Silicon knights who had moved Eternal Darkness and Too Human over to the Gamecube was a wise idea and with a sequel of Perfect Dark, Conker and Metroid on the horizon (what happened to Riqa?) Nintendo are doing all they can. They looked at the worlds famous Horror experts Capcom for help.

Resident Evil 2 sold well on the N64 and so Capcom weren’t afraid in announcing Resident Evil on the Gameboy Colour and Resident Evil 0 on to the N64. Yet Capcom were a bit ambitious with the GBC project and so that was canned and Resident Evil 0 was now heading for the Gamecube. Yet the relationship between Capcom and Nintendo has improved as of late, Nintendo helped them design 2 Zelda games on the GBC yet to be released over here and then Nintendo handed over the Mickey Mouse license to them so they can design the games for the Gamecube.

The rumors of remakes of the Resident Evil series on the Gamecube and many other consoles started circling and at last it looked as if Nintendo have vastly improved their adult status. Hype surrounded Spaceworld and all of a sudden Nintendo looked all kiddie again. Zelda’s new look popular with many has now made the game seem more orientated towards the younger generation and people had to face Nintendo weren’t about to change. Pokémon Mini was later announced in Europe yet another childish idea, Sony’s fans were getting proved right by the day Nintendo are still the childish looking company they have always been.

Until this week, headlines all around the word was filled with the American disaster where thousands were innocently killed yet Capcom and Nintendo had another shock in store for the world. Biohazard, Biohazard 2 and Biohazard 3: Nemesis was all being redone in all 128-bit glory ONLY on the Gamecube. That’s not all Code Veronica X is also making an appearance and Biohazard 0 and 4 are also Gamecube EXCLUSIVE! The single biggest step in shaking off Nintendo’s childish image with 6 adult only titles and what a huge blow to Sony I already know of 3 who are deserting the Playstation to the Gamecube in light of recent events.

Sony do still have Devil May Cry and Onimusha by Capcom but who is to say these won’t be showing up on the Gamecube either? With Capcom making both Mickey Mouse and Resident Evil only on a Nintendo console their might be a fear (or a hope in my case) that this major 3rd party developer may soon become a 2nd party developer. Nintendo’s future has just got off to a flying start and all of a sudden Zelda’s childish look doesn’t seem as important.

Here’s to the future

People get away with too much blatant rascism. You do realise that discriminating against someone because they are Scottish is still rascism right? It's the same as a Black person discriminating against a White person for the simple reason that the White person is, well, White. Yes maybe there are people who are openly reascist against Blacks but people seem to be too forgiving and accept this as an excuse for Black people to be rascist against Whites. If everything that was rascist was treated as such without any rubbish excuses then maybe the world would be a better place.

I know that occasionally it's done in fun but too often and would you really accept it if I went around saying that your opinion didn't matter because you were (insert nationality here)? I doubt it. It's like the bloody BBC, they go too far and their programmes become increasingly offensive. Infact they seem to be pumping these out because they are well recieved by some very odd people in the public. For example, the weakest link, get a talentless scumbag to insult everyone and act as if she would have known every answer even without the cards infront of her and you have a hit international show. That Dog eat Dog programme is just as bad, collect up a bunch of gits and give them money for insulting each other. It goes against all principals of life by rewarding bad people, so it shows you have to be really unpleasant to get anywhere in life. It's a pity too because the BBC were quite good a long time ago, with programmes like Dad's Army and such, now they can barely churn out one decent show a year and if there's anything else worth watching on the BBC it's generally bought from elsewhere.

Anyway, could we have less blatant rascism on the forums? Yes sometimes it can be just a joke and funny but it can also go too far.

YES GO LOOK AT THE TITLES THEY ARE GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!! Oh and Nintendo let Capcom make Zelda and Mickey Mouse i believe it is these 2 who are the most chummy.

Also, I'd expect more 3rd

If you play regular multiplayer then SSB:M and Monkey Ball are essential.

Otherwise, if you're unlikely to be playing multiplayer at first, look elsewhere.

I'll be going for multiplayer.

I'm having slight aoubts about Super Monkey Ball... I'm keeping it, BUT I wonder whether it might be an idea to stack up some better games forst... the more I look at PIKMIN and SFA the moe I want them. I no longer really care for SSB :Melee, although it would be good for the collection. I don't want to rush getting my Gamecube games, because I fear than if I had the amount of GC games as I did N64 (25) in the time 5 years it could ruin the the fun of potentially great games... I had Conker and Banjo 2 with in a week of each other... Banjo-Tooie lost out... at the time anyway.

I'll have to manage my timing better if I am to enjoy the Gamecube games more...

Anyway... ^_^

The Resident Evil announcement came as quite a surprise to me. I'd heard that Microsoft had become rather chummy with Capcom, calling them their "Development partner". I was expecting RE0 to be scrapped, and no more Capcom on 'CUBE. But thankfully, I was wrong. This news will only attract more customers to the GAMECUBE. The RE series is hugely popular, but those that have already played it -would they want ot play remakes?

Also, I'd expect more 3rd parties to support Nintendo on the back of this. Nintendo will make something on an impact onthe 'adult' market now, and are clearly trying to. The thing is, Nintendo DO have the 'kiddy' market sown up too. If their voyage into adult games fails, it won't matter, as it's not Nintendo making the games. They'd sell a truckload of GAMECUBE's tomorrow if the released a Pokemon 'CUBE shot. The GAMECUBE has just gotten a whole lot more appealing. I was always looking forward to Luigis Mansion, Super Monkey Ball and other such games that many of you fools would deem 'kiddy', but I was also looking forward to Eternal Darkness. I guess there will just be more choice when it comes to the 'more mature' titles.
