My early days playing games involved being bowled over by black and white dots with 'plink plonk' sounds, so it was with joy that I watched gaming grow up to the entertainment systems we see today.

However, it has become my quest to eventually have a fully evolved system, encompasing a whole room, just for my video game habits. This involves paying out a lot of money and convincing an increasingly sceptical wife that we need more bits for my video games.

So, what would my ideal video game setup be?

Well, I'd need a large screen, big enough to see all the action, but not too big that I couldn't see each end. To this end I would have to go for a plasma or back projection screen, as normal projectors seem to distort the image or blur it.

To go with this I would need a decent 5.1 surround system with enough bass to shake the floor (and possibly a way of soundproofing the walls - or a new house far away from everyone!). The placing of speakers is highly important to get that 'he's behind you' effect.

Next would be the seating. Options include beanbags for lounging around on the floor and a comfortable leather sofa, wide enough for four players.

Controllers would all be wireless. Nintendo helps here, by having an official wireless pad, but all three consoles have 3rd party wireless pads.

Some might say a Mini-fridge and some sort of drinks dispenser would be nice too, but to be honest I can walk out to the kitchen for food and drink!

Last, but not least, a decent remote control lighting system would be great. My parents have just put in a dimmer in their house with a remote and every time we go round there my dad can't help showing it off!

Well, that's my dream gaming zone. What's yours?!

Mine setup is awesome as it is. 32" pure flat widescreen TV. Decent Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound system which also supports Pro Logic and Pro Logic 2 for my GameCube and PS2. Got all 3 consoles and a wireless controller for my Xbox and one coming shortly for my Cube. Got a 3 seater sofa under my bed which folds out into a double bed. Only thing I am missing is the mini fridge although it only takes me about 10 seconds to walk to the big fridge :)

But then you have to go down to the cinema to play games. Unless you buy the house next door...

dream gaming zone = winning lottery, using a multiplex cinema to play games. you could have a screen, your friends could have screens each for multiplayer, intercoms to communicate with each other, you could replace the normal chairs with big La-Z-Boy recliners, a fridge at easy reach, waiter service, etc etc.

now how good is that?
