Resident Evil is now a franchaise exclusive to Gamecube.

Make what you will of that.

I'm hoping that Capcom make an announcement on it soon.

I reckon they'll finish the PS2 version before starting work on converting it to another system.

Look here...

http://cube.ign.com/news/38283.html

...at the picture about halfway down, comparing the mini-DVD's to the Shenmue disc.

On the left, there's a mini-DVD which appears to have the Devil May Cry logo at the bottom, and the top appears to say something like "Dante's Selection".

The only thing is, there's no reference to DMC in the article or anywhere else - at least as far as I have seen.

The article *does* mention that you can't play mini-DVD videos; it could be that the Devil May Cry disc is a mini-DVD video promotion for the PS2 game, and this is why it's in the photo but not mentioned in the text.

The agreement was for only 6 titles.

Expect that's for a certain reason:

Capcom like the Gamecube hardware.
In 6 RE games time, it could well be the next generation.
There's always the possibility that Nintendo might make the next one awkward to make games for, or an even better one might come out.

I think that there'll be no more Resi on the PS2 but Capcom are keeping their options open for when the PS3 come out.

As for The Devil May Cry and the rest of Capcom games, I'm sure they'll stay on the PS2, but possibly not exclusively.
I'm hoping that the Gamecube will get them as well.

For the PS2 owners concerned...

It's not the end of Resi - it's only for 6 games, and Onimusha and Devil May Cry will remain on PS2.

Ant, the new Resi games have a 3D camera.
They have done since Veronica on the Dreamcast.

Play the one on the PS2 version to make up your mind.

I'd rather tour a 1662 monkey museum than play a resident evil game.
