Here´s another Premier League news round up: Enjoy

....

Everton: Boss Walter Smith is sweating on the fitness of three key players ahead of tonight's Worthington Cup outing with Crystal Palace at Goodison.

Mark Pembridge, Niclas Alexandersson and Alessandro Pistone are all rated extremely doubtful.

Smith said: "We will give them every opportunity to be fit but we will have to wait until just before the kick-off before making a decision."

Arsenal: Manager Arsene Wenger felt the Gunners were unfortunate to lose 1-0 to Spanish side Real Mallorca in last night's Champions League clash.

Wenger said: "I believe we deserved something from the game. We kept it solid and created two clear-cut chances in the last five minutes. That is why I think we deserved a point. But on the other hand we should remember that the players gave everything tonight and David Seaman kept us in the game two or three times.

"But you don't finish third in the Spanish League if you are not a good team. And now we have a very important game at home to Schalke next week."

Aston Villa: Popular midfielder Ian Taylor could be set for a return to action in two week's following his knee operation.
Boss John Gregory said: "He's had his operation and he's about a fortnight away. He's really progressing very well."

Manchester United: Sir Alex Ferguson has criticised the French Football Association's decision to play a friendly in Australia in November.

United face the prospect of losing Fabien Barthez and Mikael Silvestre for the 11th November match, which could see them ruled out of the away match at Liverpool and the home game with Leicester City either side of the Sydney encounter.

Ferguson said: "It is ridiculous. All the English teams will be in the middle of their European campaigns and the French players will have to go traipsing off on a 23-hour flight."

Sunderland: Boss Peter Reid said he has money to spend in the transfer market followin g the sale of former Liverpool midfielder Don Hutchison to West Ham United.

Reid said: "The money is there to be spent and I will spend it. It's burning a hole in my pocket but it's a case of waiting for the right player.

"In an ideal world I'd have Trevor Sinclair here but I got turned down when I asked for him as part of the Hutchison deal."

Blackburn Rovers: Welsh international striker Nathan Blake could be set for a move to Wolves after the two clubs agreed a £1.5 million fee.

Rovers' chief executive John Williams confirmed this morning: "We have been negotiating with Wolverhampton Wanderers, a transfer fee has been determined and it is now up to the player. Nathan has been given permission to talk with the club."

Newcastle United: Bobby Robson has completed the signing of French defender Sylvain Distin on a season's loan from Paris St Germain.

Distin said: "I believe Newcastle United are one of the top five clubs in England. I'm here for a year, but I want to stay longer and join Newcastle on a permanent transfer."
