To be totally blunt, don't get too excited about whether the connections are gold-plated or not. If you've got a seriously top-end TV then yes, you'll notice a difference between a good and bad quality cable.
HOWEVER(!)
Pay equal attention to the overall reputation/quality of the cable - not much point having gold-plated connections if the cable itself is utter rubbish. Would be a bit like putting a Ferrari car body on top of a Fiat Punto engine. (And I can say that cause I have a Punto!).
I have a Blaze 'Ultimate RGB' cable for my PS2. Does the job for me.

I have the official Xbox RGB cable and it only cost me £29.99?!
Best RGB can be purchased at a low price from a mainly DVD selling site.
