Hi folks,

Thought you'd like to know that when I purchased Region X for my European PS2 it played region 1 dvd's in black and white.
I was told to buy a fully loaded RGB scart to rectify this.......it didn't. Thankfully a colleague opened up the scart lead and reported that it wasn't infact RGB.

I then bought the correct lead, duly checked, only to find that it now played in green.....however if you go to

http://www.dvdregionx.com/english/x_key_codes.htm
enter these codes it works a treat.

So the moral of the story is check your lead and make sure its the correct one, check your TV to make sure it can play 60mhz (NTSC) and enter the codes from the website listed above and you'll be grinning as widely as I am.

Just thought you'd like to know!

Okay, well, here's what I've got

PS 2 plugged into a standard TV via the SCART lead that came with the PS 2, but only using the yellow lead for video because I'm running the sound through a stereo.

I've got a DVD Region X, plugged into Port 2, with the codes entered.

Region 1 DVD's play in BLACK AND WHITE, which is the problem discussed in the original message.

Now - my muti-region DVD player, connected to the SAME TV with SCART lead, plays the SAME DVD in COLOUR.

SO - it's clearly a problem with my PS 2, and it's something to do with the SCART lead - so, I ask again - can ANYONE recommend a SCART lead that will solve this problem?????

RIGHT, LISTEN UP.

I HAVE A DVD REGION X.

I HAVE A PAL 24" WIDESCREEN TV.

I HAVE A PS2 CONNECTED TO MY TV WITH AN S-VHS CABLE.

REGION 1 NTSC DVD'S PLAY IN COLOUR.

Make of that what you will, but my Xwave LB900 multi-region player doesn't even have an RGB output on it, and it plays NTSC DVD's in colour on my Sony TV in the living room through S-VHS, as does my PS2. Now, I don't know what the problem you are having is but;

1) NTSC DVD's play in colour from a PS2 through an NTSC supporting TV.

2) The quality of the RGB Scart is better though.

You need a SCART lead and a PAL TV capable of NTSC display - then you can watch R1 discs.

It's not a PS2 issue - it's the same for my dedicated DVD player.
