...A 128mb card based upon the Radeon 9600 PRO chipset, but are there any particular card manufacturers, ie ASUS or Sapphire that I should steer clear of, or oppositely, try to aim for? Do you lot have any recommendations in this? Should I get the Sapphire version? Should I get a Hercules version? AND I don't mind arguments because of tecnical reasons, as I find them interesting, so, please reply, even if you're reply is filled with technical jargon, and on a further note, no flaming for any slightly poor answers :D

no need, found a few myself.

Wow, the review on Beyond3d had the card clocked at 594Mzh Core - which is pretty damn high.

That is damn good - it's only 95Mzh over the stock speed but when the stock is at 500Mha i guess you don't need to push it all that further.

Amazing that the card still ins't as quick as a 9700Pro in like 90% of the tests, but in terms of a raw clock speed on a £150-£200 part, that is inpressive.

That is an excellent idea, providing you have the cash.

The XTs are fast cards and Half Life 2 is a really nice bouns - whenever it comes out! Although if you could get a 9700Pro for about the same price, i'd go with that, as it's still faster.

But as Cookie says, the XT is the best 9600-core based card you are going to find. Ever.

Wait for the 9600 XT. It comes out in about a fortnight and comes bundled* with Half Life 2.

*A coupon for Half life 2.

All perform the same, give or take a few FPS.

Hercules cards OC quite well because of the heat sink solutions they use, but to be honest we are talking about an extra 5-10 Mhz on the core and clock - which isn't anything to right home about.

You will get a decent over clock out of any Radeon 9600Pro based card.

Can't say that there are any to avoid, I have read loads of reviews and no of them have indicated there is a brand to avoid.

I have a Sapphire card, as do a few mates, and have never had any problems. SO i would have no problems recommending them.

Just look for the best price/bundle deal.

Ever had that feeling you've said all this before. ;-)
