Much in the vein of the original Black and White, this sequel demands that you raise a creature (person this time) from infancy and make sure that all vitality and interest is drained by the time your pet reaches maturity. This sequel as a more RPG element to it than the 1st, and more than 5 lands.
When born, your creature knows nothing except for basic motor functions. It is your task to teach them values and morals, through praise and punishment technique.
It is entirely up to you how your pet turns out, is it wise and nice or a maladjusted misfit?
All down to you.
First of all you introduced to your pet creature. You learn how to feed it, get it to feed itself and learn where not to poop, when to drink etc.
This takes almost continuous care and attention, for what appears to be little or no immediate reward.
It is only in the later levels this will become apparent, so persevere.
Should your creature managed to negociate this tricky level without falling victim to the curse on this land (of forgetting everything it’s learned and staring blankly at the Nemesis called television) then it must survive the rigours of the training level.
Once you have ensured it has mastered the basic techniques of fending for itself and is at the formative stage (4-11) where it is most likely to absorb new spells from you, you must then surrender control of your creature for an entire level whilst the opponent (society) attempts to remove any trace of originality and uniqueness by preaching the mantra of “Fitting in is good, different is bad”
Many other creatures will attempt to interfere with your teachings and techniques through bullying, luring it away with nice things and using spells of confusion (beer, sex etc).
This is quite possibly the most tricky level, as your control is minimal at best, you are advised to make your own village appear more attractive in order to convince your creature to return to you.
Once the initial tutorial and training level has been completed, your creature now must face the rigours of the game-world at large.
This again is a level with little control, although the earlier hostility from your creature is no longer there. It will appear from it’s temple more often, be less angry all the time and be willing to be seen with your hand around the village and in front of other creatures.
This land is known as Pubertus, a raging island with little sanity and plenty of storms.
Should you survive this land, your creature will attempt to find a mate. Although successful, the 1st choice will never last very long and it may take your creature 5-6 attempts before compatibility is achieved.
Hint: Do NOT attempt guidance or interference during this stage, as the creature will not be happy and may rampage through your village, destroying properties and throwing cows.
Once a mate has been located and tamed, you must then help it to choose a career path.
The tutorial level will have assisted with gaining experience points in the chosen direction, but more often than not you will find that you have wasted many hours of play as the points and attributes built-up are generally worthless for the career-section of the game.
The trick is to ensure your creature remains stimulated for this period, do not be lured by high fees offered and location, as your creature will invariably become frustrated and bored, resulting in mood swings and a gradual resentment of you.
You can watch your creature mature and realise that your teachings were best when it was younger, as it cannot deal with it’s own choices and will often attempt to blame you, however with screenshots through-out it’s development you can check back and see exactly where the mistakes were made.
Ultimately, your creature may choose to have offspring, which is where the game ends as it then attempts to raise a creature by itself, based on your teachings and it’s own learning experience.
But that’s an add-on pack for later.
