The GBA is going slowly at the moment the other half is yet to come but after reading what the consoles will do together I was pleased but I expected there to be more to it, we had predicted most of the things the GBA can do with the Gamecube and I honestly believed Nintendo have something up their sleeve that no one had even considered but there was no evidence of this… yet.
But Nintendo’s next generation has split into 3, something I didn’t expect, I am referring to Pokémon Mini. This is a tiny, black and white, cartridge based, Pokémon only console with 4 games already announced. It also has more buttons than the Gameboy colour but why did Nintendo make this?
Obviously a cash in as this won’t be a good console, die hard Pokémon will lap this up (including me) but gamers even those who like Pokémon won’t as there is no 3rd party games this is just Pokémon, a game designed by one company. Yet I know there is more to this than meets the eye, 4 way infra read link up is a smart idea especially as infra red is sadly missing on the Gameboy Advanced does this present a clue?
I look to Pokémon World the Gameboy Advanced game that uses the revolutionary e-card reader that downloads information from Pokémon cards (that could well take off again from this) on to the game. Then there is the elusive Gamecube Pokémon game, could Pokémon mini have something to do with any of these?
Simple cash in is what it looks like but what I bet it will do is something the GBA is doing (if you get an American GBA you will find it filled with Gamecube propaganda) Nintendo won’t pass off the opportunity to push Pokémon mini fans to Nintendo’s other two consoles.
It took me by surprise and I don’t think we have heard the full story around what the radio has called “ a waste of money,” And a “dead franchise.” What is Pokémon mini all about? Why was it announced in Europe rather than Spaceworld? Could this in fact be a console dedicated to the Gamecube and/or GBA Pokémon game(s) that will somehow intertwine together? Only time will tell but I will be looking very closely at the Pokémon mini and what Nintendo are up to.
Here’s to the Future

Think of it as an all new Pokemon Pedometer 'thingey' that had little handheld's cliped onto a belt.
Although nothing has been mentioned of Pokemon 'X' of late, has there?
I said that it would be madness not to release the game, but it does look childish and this is the wrong move. Nintendo are scaring off gamers with their childish attitude. The N64 would have been much more successsful if they had not had that childish image, and I think the same goes for the GameCube. It doesn't matter what the games are like, they DO have a childish look and Nintendo is synonymous with childish. This is deterring gamers and that's the last thing they want to do.
WHAT, ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! Why are you obsessed with image, Pokemon = money and fun, Money= more fun etc...
Lets take away the cute graphics of Pokemon, lets ignore them...
What do we have?
251 animals, hitting, kicking, stabbing, freezing, burning, electrocuting and blowing eachother up!
Sounds childish to me and you have to make your animals the best at beating up the other ones.
That is not a childish game but all of a sudden you make this monsters cute and it becomes a kids game!
I think not.
