Before Bing there was live.com Microsoft's previous Search Engine.

A couple of years ago I was impressed with 'live' as it often indexed (found new pages/sites) well before Google. BUT then 'live' lost the plot!

Microsoft's Search Engine failed to show the most relevant sites for the most simple of terms. Even searching for the full website address (URL) became hit and miss!

But Microsoft have been trying hard lately (£££'s) and improvements seem to be coming through.

For some of the sites I look after I've noticed that Bing has indexed new content a week or two before Google.

I've just tried searching for a previous post of mine to use in Freeola's General Chat forum. Google failed to find the post! But Bing did find it.

I used the same 'site search' on both Google and Bing:
site:chat.freeola.com www.tvcatchup.com
This searches all of Freeola Chat for the address I knew I had mentioned. Only Bing managed to find it! In fact I tried quite a number of different Google searches but they all failed.

Bing maybe back!

I quite like Bing anyway. Google usually is my first stop because my fingers are used to typing it automatically when I click into my browser. When it isn't the most relevant, I tend to check Bing.

It looks much nicer - especially with that daily photo :D
