Bolton Wanderers: The current Premiership leaders have taken former Spain international star Kiko on trial.
Kiko has been released by Atletico Madrid following their relegation from La Liga and has seen moves to Italian outfit Lazio and German club Energie Cottbus collapse in the summer.
Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce said: "Kiko has come to the Reebok to have a look around. If he likes what he sees then we can begin discussions. If he decides to stay, we can get him on a Bosman free."
Chelsea: Italian keeper Carlo Cudicini has returned to training and pushing for a place in this weekend's derby with Arsenal
Cudicini has missed the start of the new campaign due to a freak injury when he injured his knee while out walking his dog in the summer, but is now ready to challenge Ed de Goey and Mark Bosnich for the keeper's jersey.
Middlesbrough: Assistant manager Steve Harrison hopes manager Steve McClaren can bring his side some of the good fortune England enjoyed in last week's World Cup qualifiers, when pointless Boro' take on Newcastle.
Harrison said: "The sun has come from behind the clouds on the national scene - let's hope it's the same here soon. All that success must have a positive effect on the players and I hope it shows on Saturday with those who will be involved.
"We need points, it's a simple as that. We have worked on a lot of things on the training field and the lads have been all ears, they want to listen and want to learn. They have been very bright this week and I hope it shows against Newcastle.
"We need to be more hungry around the goal. Football is the same no matter how you play it. Whether you play like Wimbledon or Manchester United, the object is to defend your own goalmouth and do damage in the opposition's.
Sunderland: Peter Reid is taking a look at French international keeper Bernard Lama and must decide whether to sign him in order for him to play against Blackburn tomorrow.
Lama, who is a free agent after leaving Rennes at the end of last season, has spent the last two days working with Sunderland, but Reid says the 38-year-old is just one of a number of options available and that he has not yet signed the veteran keeper.
The Sunderland boss is still hoping that Thomas Sorensen, who suffered a badly broken nose while playing for Denmark last weekend, recovers in time to play. Jurgen Macho, the second choice keeper at the Stadium of Light, is almost certain to be ruled out with a thigh strain, so Reid will be forced to use a loan signing if Sorensen is not right.
The Sunderland chief said: "Bernard has trained with us but nothing has yet been sorted. He is one of a number of options."
Fulham: Former Scotland star John Collins believes England under-21 star Sean Davis will be knocking on the door of Sven Goran Eriksson's senior squad by the end of the season.
Collins said: "I have no doubt that Sean is good enough to play for England. He has shown he can do it at a lower level and if he keeps playing the way he has started this season everyone will take notice, including the England manager."
