Man, I haven't been on here for ages. I almost got 'that uncomfortable silence'... you know... when you meet an old girlfriend at the shopping centre, or football match. I spent that much time on here!

Still, it's good to be back. Where are Meka, FM, Grix, Ant and Er-No? Legends, in their own right.

I thought I'd talk about the PS2. This isn't really a 'Console Wars - who is the best?' topic, more a e-ppreciation ceremony.

I've had a PS2 since late 2001. Got it with GTA 3 and never looked back. Even when I got my GameCube, the fact that my PS2 looked better, played DVD's and cost me more money, meant that I treasured it more. I don't really keep hold of too many games at a time.. 4 at most, per console. Pro Evo 3 is king. Sitting pretty in my PS2 tray most of the time, only to be knocked off yesterday by the king of snowboarding that is: SSX 3.

There's a game and a half. Been playing it for days. I don't know if it's the fact that anyone can play it, the polish of the game or the fact that you can snowboard all the way down a mountain, uninterrupted with your HUD off, that makes this such a great game - either way, not having it is like not wearing socks with football boots. You could, technically, but no-one ever should!!

PS2. Most dated machine out, I know. But it plays more games than any other home console. And the pad. Always back to the pad! 4 shoulder buttons. Claustrophobia, or congratulations? I think the latter. SSX's tricks, Amplitude's Speed, Dropships take-off. The PS2 DualShock 2 is king. GameCube and XBOX have good pads, don't get me wrong, no-one is wrong in this, it's just PS2 gets an A*, compared to two B's. I know Nintendo bought the whole 'Control/Analogue Stick' to the market, but it really was a stick... more of a twig... how many did you get through?... PS2 pads, unless traveling at a TV, breaking the sound barrier, don't break too easily. With the PS2 stick... It's more of a PC tracker ball with a bit on the end. X-BOX too, but PS2 lead the way.

I've been quite impressed with my XBOX as of late. KOTOR, although not my kind of game, went down very well with my brothers. 'LIVE' is good, but milked and crowded with crap... a bit like a Pre-Owned bin at a market.

PS2 online... finally, Fifa, SSX, EA, EA, EA, EA, EA and EA. Glorious. Granted, it's not quite as friendly to use as LIVE, but who needs friendly... we're all men here... we can take a miserable interface... look at Pro Evo 1 and 2. Barcode..... Barcodes?!!!!! Bloody BARCODES!!!! Still, Pro Evo 3's Space Station look has calmed tempers. Shame the Action Replay fixes don't work properly. New Batch please.

As for the future, I think PS2 is the way forward... sure, sales overall are low, down 51% (??). But in Christmas 2000 through to Christmas 2003, the SONY PlayStation® 2 has been THE toy to have. Everyone has one, you can share games with your friends because everyone has one, EyeToy has beaten all expectations, Dance Mats are coming 'into season' for Christmas. Manhunt, although not my kind of theme, will push Christmas sales further. Lord of the Rings 3, to add another. But the heavy-weights are already there. Fifa, PES3, GTA Double Pack, SSX, CDSII, EyeToy.

Until recently, I owned all 3 major consoles. My GameCube giving way, temporarily, for a Silver PS2. (I'll get 'Mario Kart Pak') The PS2 is my favourite. I love Nintendo, but at my age, I enjoy having friends round, Pizza, PS2 Multi-Tap,.. Pro Evo 3, SSX 3 and the odd race on Circuit Breakers (PSX) for comedy value.

PlayStation 2 is king. If you don't have one, and are not content with the '99 Reasons To Get One' slapping you in the face, phone me and I’ll give you one more!

Been registered for 1234 days... Funny... I don't remember you either. And you're all wrong. X-box is the way forward.

Well, I disagree with your statements. Except the Nintendo praise

Aye up!

You were a hardcore Nintendo-only-fan last time I saw you! :-D

Still, it makes sense. You play Nintendo's lovely style to death and it gets boring so you move on. Apart from that bit about the PS2 being better for multiplayer that is... wtf was that about? :-P

Good to see you back all the same.

Long long time no see.

I'm glad you still love your PS2. I'm sadly bored with mine, its sole purpose now to be a lump of plastic for dust to settle on, but it's all down to what you like.

But oh, I hate the PS pad. Don't know why, but I get sore hands playing using one. Pro Evo is great. Was considering SSX3, but I thought it would be inferior to Amped 2, but I'll check it out.

As for Meka, he drops by occasionally. Can't post at work though.
Grix, only recently reappeared, mostly lives in Life.
Ant is WWE and occasionally Sport.
FM rarely ventures out of the Sony forum now, er-no the Nintendo forum.

Anyway, nice to see one of the oldest regulars back.

I got my PS2 because I wanted Gran Turismo 3. I'm into racing games and motor racing in general.

The thing that persuaded me to buy a Gamecube was solely for Sonic. I'm a total Sonic freak and when I heard that Sonic Adventure was going to be on the Gamecube, I lapped it up as I had missed the Dreamcast bus.

I think I played Circuit Breakers once. I can't remember much about it though. I'll have to check if my mate still has it stashed away.

It's always nice to see a old regular returning. :)
