Rarely a day goes by without me 'surfin' the net' and thanking God for Nintendo's exclusives.

Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, and even the past, up and coming Rare franchises that won't be seen on a Playstation or X-Box any time soon - They're all ace!

They really are great though. And it kinda makes me sad to see so many games from multi-platform developers being thrown around like a common stale.

With the recent turn of Sega, we are scheduled to see quite a number of their 'Sega Sports' games on X-Box, Gamecube and Playstation. Already several of the 2K2 and all of the 2K3 series have been promised for both X-Box and Gamecube with some making it all the way to Playstaion 2.

Doesn't it make you sad...? It's like pitting Luke Skywalker against an exact copy of Luke Skywalker. Not Luuke, but Luke. Okay so Nintendo will hang on to all their exclusives until the company offices are in the back on Miyamotos garden in a B+Q shed, but games like Sonic and Shenmue are a very effective weapon in the console wars, but now, and with in a year, the chance of a Sega exclusive on any console looks slim.

And what's this, news that we might see the GT series on Gamecube? I read something about it on the Polyphony Digital site, I just can't believe it... even as a old Ninty I still dont want it on Gamecube... not because i'm proud or pompous, but because it takes all the fight out of the console wars that make these light-hearted debates what they are! If all the 2nd and 3rd party games out are on all the consoles out only Nintendp would survive... (GBA + Held Back Exclusives [Mario, Zelda])

As much as I don't like Microsoft's way, I'd hate to see them out of the race so early, and if a company like Playstation were to go we'd be lost... they do quite a lot for the industry, in terms of making gaming look cool. We all have a lot to thank them for!

I'm no super-gaming-guru-person, but I do know how to appreciate the little things in life. Sonic on the Gamecube is good because otherwise he'd die, but turning games into slappers and releasing them as much as possible has very few pro's.

Although, maybe exclusives aren't all good.

I mean there is no reason why, when a family pays over £200 for a 'play-thing', they shouldn't be able to play all the games.

I suppose when 'us lot' (and I use that term losely, because i haven't) win games through GAD we don't think twice about the price. We expect to pay what some adults earn a week on a game, no questions asked.

I think gaming on the whole would be a lot more popular had the main companies 'clubbed' together to provide the gamers best interests and forgotten this ridiculous mini-war that only they and hardcore gamers are interested in.

But through the pletora of titles we see on the shelves in Special Reserve shops most companies' logo's can be seen on most, if not all formats. All the big names (3rd party) develop for the big companies, and although the games differ, (with certain ones only seeing the light of one console or the other,) the fact that the developers of the Company R title that Comapny S fans want so much are developing other titles for the Company S can only increase the chances of Company S fans seeing the game they want. Sorry, it's hard to follow but if you endeavour to get it round your head you'll see it makes sense.

Exclusives are something to boast about and something to heat up the tension between 'Ninties' and 'Playstation-ers', but really for Joe Bloggs, who only plays games for fun and doesn't give a rat's monkey who or what makes them, it's a shame, that because of this 'war' he misses out on Sonic and opts for MGS over Perfect Dark when both are very good games and a pleasure to play.

Companies may not know what they're doing... if this stupid little war carries on gamers might get sick of the fighting and take their own 'leave of absence' and go home on the next plane. - Talk about picking your nose to spite your face!
