I have an OEM MSI Ti4400 which came with mu PC and would now like to upgrade. My budget is £100 plus what i could get for my old one on Ebay, and it seems ATI now have the better cards and drivers so would the ATI9600 Pro or XT be good enough or should i wait! HELP!

That's a nice system, I don't really see why you were thinking about upgrading yet.

You'd be mad to upgrade that card if you've only got another £100 to throw in. The MSI Ti4400 is a very good card, better than some of the ti4600 cards. You might get £80 or so selling it second hand if you're lucky, so with your £180 you'll be able to afford an Ati Radeon 9800, or an Asus 256Mb FX5600TD.

It's really not worth spending £100 to do that.

A Ti4400 is a pretty good card anyway. I doubt that £100 card would give you much more performance. If your wanting to play Halflife 2 or Doom 3 or any other high graphics game not out yet, then just wait. Wait and save up more cash so that you can get a nice top of the range card that will be a big improvement over the Ti4400 rather than a small improvement.

Depends what "good enough" means really. The imminent launch of the XT cards should push prices of the other cards down a little, but beyond that there's always going to be something better and/or cheaper on the way if you wait long enough.

If you only want to upgrade to play Doom 3 and Half Life 2, then you may as well wait a bit as these aren't comming out any time soon. If you just want the latest games to look a bit prettier then buy now. With regards "good enough", there's almost always something better if you can up the budget. Spend what you got and be happy.
