Is it any good?
How do i go about getting connected (my neighbours got broadband so its available)?
Do you need a service provider and who should I use?
How much does it cost and what hardware do i need??
Any info you can give or links to info would be great
Cheers guys

At the moment a few games use it very well and there are plenty more due for release. SOCOM is probably the best of the bunch for most people. A lot of fun and offers a lot more game play time that the offline contents of most games.

You need to get broadband installed, then get a PS2 network adapter.

I'm online with NTL and think they are quite good, £25 a month.

You pay your monthly internet charge (around £25) and the cost of buying the network adapter.
If you want to use your PC and have your PS2 in another room there are a few ways of doing it but they all add up on the cost. I would reccomend getting a router and some extra cables to hook your PS2 up, makes it easier to set up.

Yes. If you like to play / speak to real people / join online rankings / clans etc..

Assuming you've got a BT line, get ADSL enabled by a service provider (NOT BT). I use www.freedom2surf.net and would recommend them to anyone. Cheap (22.50 a month) and I've had good speed and no downtime. If you choose to use them remember to include me as the referrer (bazpatts)! There's no contract (cancel at will) and, most importantly, you get a fixed IP address - not something I've seen much.
If you've got cable, then sort it out with your cable provider.

See above.

Monthly fee of around 25 quid on average. You will need a modem. Optionally a router and firewall as well. I'd recommend you get them all as a bundle. www.netgear.co.uk - click on the picture of the PS2 to see some setups. I use the top left setup (actually with that hardware too) 'Wireless connection with ADSL'. For what you get in that setup, it's really good value. You can have your PS2 in any room if it's wireless too + use your laptop in the garden etc. etc. I think I paid about 150 quid.
I would recommend against getting the cruddy bundles that normally come with broadband offers. They usually include just an overpriced modem with a single output so there's no possibility to network (unless you use ICS - a pain).
