Richard Branson was visibly shaken by it all during the on site interview. Seems these trains were built extremely well and sustained little damage despite first impressions of the accident. Every credit to the safety teams working on the carriage design.
So, Muppet Rail dropped the ball again? Defective tracks? Our rail system seems to be a joke compared to our neighbours in Europe.
On a sidenote the price to travel on the bloody things is nothing short of scandelous. I'm off to London in March for a few days, enquired about tickets ... one hundred and bloody twenty five feckin quid ... per person, return.
What?? Where's the incentive to use the rail system, really?
All valid points...
£50 sounds a lot. In 2000 I got a return journey on a Virgin train from Preston to Euston station for the same price ...
Anyway, in the end I went for a different option ... £22 for a return journey on a coach. Yeah, the journey takes a hell of a lot longer (about 6 hours, stopping for a break in Birmingham), but I don't get my pants pulled down over the price.
