Heh, YBN here with yet another problem which no one will solve and end up turning into a conversation about cabbages.
OK, I've been playing CS on my Mum's PC for about 2 days, and I've noticed my ping is constantly sky high. 1200 sky high. OK, here's my set up:
SMARTLINK MR2800-W modem (I think)
Software compression turned off
Connected to a reasonable ISP
WinME
Connected to random Barry's World servers
On UT on my otgher PC, I usually ping around 300. Yahoo is pinging around 520. Is this my problem or the server's? I think it's something to do with me, because that ping is STUPID!
Anyway, can anyone give any suggestions?

Ok i had same sorta problem this is wht i found it out to be...
1) Update drivers for modem this alwayts helps
2) the modem might be rubbish (even if its a well known brand it still can be the modem)
3) ISP
4) sometimes i noticed with my mums pc its not as good as mine and tht seems to affect the ping for some unknown reason.

I've just come here to laugh. And don't blame my servers! they run very fast thanks very much! Might be a combination of crap modem and poor ISP, who is it by the way? How many times have you played and had pings like that? It might just of been a dodgy connection that night.
