1) How many next gen consoles (X-Box, GameCube and PS2) would you expect to be sold total in the next generation war by the end of 2004?
My guess is about 70 million or less.
2) How many has PS2 sold already?
I know its over 11 million now, but I don`t know it exactly.
3) Therefore, how many does PS2 need to sell to insure at least a 1/3 share in the market?
I would hope that PS2 would reach 35 million by the end of 2004, assuming the totals are about 70 million. Then Gamecube and X-Box with the remainder. This would ensure competition keeps Sony pushing, whilst at the same time, giving them the resources to continue their success.
Does anyone have any ideas?

okay from opsm (special edition)
they say that....
4.75 million ps2s have been sold in japan
3.01 million in america
and 2.85 million in europe....
total = 10.61 million...
however from publishing and writing there are bound to have been a lot more sold....
whilst i was in hong kong so many people were getting a new ps2 from just one building (which specialises in cpus and consoles - about 50-60 stores)....
also i've got one recently...don't forget me!!
PS2 has sold at least twice as many as PS1 did in its first year. If that trend continues, then it follows that there will be around 46 million PS2's sold by 2004.
Let's just say the others have their work cut out to keep up! :-)
