In the manual of the TV there are 2 whole pages devoted to an electronic program guide (EPG) called NexTView. Now if anybody has digital TV then you will know what an EPG is and does (it's an electronic on screen TV guide)but NexTView is an EPG for Analogue TV's, the ones 2/3 of the UK has.
I have never herd of NexTView before and although it is analogue you do need an equipped TV but it doesn't really matter as who ever owns the airwaves have not incorporated NexTView anyway. And that is my Problem!
Who does own the airwaves? probably some government body as the government is eventually going to sell of the analogue TV airwaves and make us go digital.
My problem with the people who own the airwaves is that they are absolutely useless. Firstly we do not get this excellent analogue EPG (NexTView) although it has been around since 1995. Secondly we get or more to the point we don't get channel 5 but on that point most people will be glad!. Also in connection with channel 5, why did these idiots add another channel to terrestrial TV when Digital Terrestrial TV was just around the corner and is now suffering from lack of bandwidth. Yes ITV has basically no space too add new or extra channels (like Sky and cable can) because the airwaves are limited yet channel 5 is being broadcast and simply wasting airwaves.
In regards to my Point on NexTView, I have written to the BBC asking why so much money is being spent on digital TV (included EPG's) yet a technology available since 1995 has not been implanted. After all the BBC is publicly funded and should provide a service to the public.
As for channel 5 in my house chanel 5 is watched less than BBC Parliament but admirably more than SKY One recently, but that's another story.
