I have allways owned a 64 and have defended it to the death, to the point were i have never even played a playstation. But through a bit of maturity i have seen the error of my narrow minded ways and (gulp) have decided to purchase my first playstation console (even though i've never played one (tommorow is the big day). I have allways been jealous of the fact that sony, has gun games that are really fun whereas nintendo have not really anything worth commenting on. As i am new to this console can anyone recommend some awsome games and tips on owning this console.

Thank you for your time

I'm with Soup Dragon. Stick with your 64. I bought an N64 about 3 months ago from my mate with a couple of controllers and about 5 games and it cost me £80. I look on this as an investment, because there are games like Goldeneye that you just don't get bored of (at least in multiplayer) regardless of the release of new and better games.
And check out sales figures for this month-N64 games are selling faster than Dreamcast and Playstation games, despite the word being that shops are quietly ditching N64 games to make more shelf space for Dreamcast games. And NEVER repeat NEVER buy something you have had the chance to play beforehand.
If you still want to buy a Playstation after having played it, wait until PS2 is released and go to E-bay.co.uk-there will be plenty of people trying to flog their Playstations to get the cash for a Playstation 2.

I really would recomend AGAINST getting a PS this late in the day, the party's over, and it'll be out on it's bum as the new consoles come in.
In the old days your plan could have worked - there were good MasterSystem games being released in the days of the Megadrive, but now those days are GONE and the PS will go the way of the N64, you'll only have yesterdays games on yeterdays console, and while the world talks about the Dreamcast, PSII (maybe) and Dolfeeen, you'll be left out in the cold longing for a piece of the pie.

I figure it's unlikely that has changed your mind (mixing my metaphores never seems to impress) but I would so very strongly recomend waiting a while and thinking it through properly, since you're buying to upgrade your console, which is downgrading itself in freefall.
Just stop and think.
