the combat system is great, trust me, it's a combination of real-time and turn based. it works a treat.

It is and it isnt. Its alot faster than Final Fantasy and you can still move. But your limited by time and cant keep smashing them with your light saber or shooting your lasers. Have you ever played Parasite Eve on the PS1? If so think of it as a more advanced version of that. But your still not in control of the character as much as say Jedi Academy. You select a move and it does it. So once you get into light saber battles your not really pulling the moves off its the computer.

Hmm.

Thats what I thought.

Jedis standing around waiting to be hit kinda sounds rubbish.

What they mean by Dungeons and Dragons style-rules is the way combat works. Have you seen the Final Fantasy games on PSX and PS2? Well its the same sort of thing, the combat is turn based. So basically you take a move then your opponent. But in KOTOR this combat doesnt feel turn based at all, but it still relies on the same principles. These principles are like dice rolls. Basically when you attack it calculates the damage from factors of weapon strength, skill, enemy armour etc. So when an enemy attacks you it does the same.
