Hilsdon, Lawton, Bently, Greaves, Trambling, Osgood, Dixon, Zola... Names that send a tingle down the spine of those immersed in Chelsea's tradition and history. Few clubs can lay claim to such a distinguished line of centre-forwards. You cannot quantify their value in terms of goals, but you always can in terms of spirit. That indebtedness to the past, to the people who built the traditions that the current players have inherited. It should be a fundamental aspect of all sports, sustaining root from which nourishment derives. Sadly the structure of football is such that the majority of players do not stay long enough to know or care about their club's history. That accusation can hardly be levelled at the supporters though and whilst the odd flat cap may be missing nowadays, the loyalty of Chelsea fans, young and old, remains unquestioned. I am mostly fashioned by what I learn in My youth and inevitably I focus on the glamour; the heroes who create chances and my heart and mind.

Now a bit of History.

Brian Mears was chairman of Chelsea at arguably the most volatile period of its tempestuous history - when the club tumbled catastrophically from being Kings of Europe to relegated has-beens. The only time Chelsea ever won the Championship was in 1955 when Brian's father was chairman.
The Mears family were the founders of Chelsea Football club. Brian Mears partied with the A-list celebs. He socialised with Michael Caine, dined with Prince Philip, drank with George Best and shopped with Elton John. Who else can claim to have sacked Geoff Hurst and Sir Alf Ramsey, who helped win England the 1966 World Cup??
Chelsea Football Club is today a brand-name industry worth millions and football's longest-running soap opera.

"Chelsea Past"

The fans used to be a much of low lifes who would go around beating everyone up, these were called the "Headhunters".

They gave all the other supporters a bad name.

"Chelsea Present"

They have seemed to got rid of these thugs, how long for I don't quite know. I think all the hoolis have gone to support Millwall now. :)

But when will Chelsea win the Premiership?
On paper they should do it, but in reality they haven't yet even come close.
Hasselblaink, Zola, Desailly. You've got world class players, so what is the problem?
You tell me..... Attitude? To many foreign players? What?
