With the unparallel success of Smackdown 1 and 2, THQ decided to release a third game in this very successful series and appropriately and prudently named it "Smackdown 3:Just Bring It". A little difference though, it is on the PlayStation 2, instead of the PS1.

Not much has changed in gameplay terms from videos and pictures displayed on numerous sites. The speed is the same, as fast as ever. It seems too fast for me but that may be because I have been avidly playing No Mercy for the N64. The fighting style is the same and the same engine from previous outings. Luckily, the PS2’s power has enabled THQ to implement commentary from Michael Cole and Tazz into the mix. There are few improvements but they are worth it. The entrances have been vastly improved with full, 3D entrances instead of an almost completely FMV-based entrance. The roster has been updated, but a lot of the regulars are still there, only adding about 5 or 10 new wrestlers to the roster. The modes are disappointing though. There is only 1 new mode I can think of off the top of my head and the remaining 60 or 70 modes are just multiplayer versions of matches from SD2.

The graphics are what you might expect from the PS2. The entrance graphics are simply amazing. The in-game graphics are nothing special. Each sequence seamlessly flows into the next and it makes for some impressive playing.

The audio is of reasonable quality but again, nothing special. It is far from CD quality but definitely audible. You may hardly notice the music with lush graphics in the entrances though. The commentary is a disappointment. The commentary doesn’t flow together very well.

I hope that all the bugs and problems that I have criticized are ironed out before the release and if they are, THQ may have another best seller on their
