If you ever played it, you'll know what I mean when I say they don't make them like THAT anymore. If you never got to experience the joy it bought, my heart goes out to you, it really does.
The game had everything. 1 and 2 player main game with bags of playability and great boss levels. The difficulty was guaged perfectly, when you'd got to the levels in the dark you had to go back and find all the objects, mirrors, coals, that kind of thing, giving it unrivaled lastability.
The graphics were never up to all that much, and the characters came close (but not too close) to the point of 'cutesy', but it was all made okay by the playability, and the 2 player mode. The race for fruit when the enemies were safely disposed of, sneakily sending a lightning bubble's contents into your team mates but. It was supurb. It even warrented a recovery on PS, though the graphics meant modern snobbish gamers never gave it a fair shot. I just wish it had come out on my N64.
How about it then? Lets all storm all the game companies offices and chain ourselves to their desks untill they agree to re-release the classics on modern formats. Or we could sit at home playing games with challenge, graphics but no playability neccesary to make a classic, and reminice about the good old days.
