When the Matrix hit our screens in 1999 it was heralded as the best film ever made. I am one of it's greatest fans. It's ingenuity and co-ordination is so immense that you all most forget the story line.
The power the bullet time photography technology has opened endless possibilities for us in it's first few steps. The creators of the Matrix managed to harnace this energy into bringing the action on step closer to us.
Will the Matrix 2 & 3 be in 4D? I would most certainly pay up to £50 to see it in the IMAX in London. What a site!. Can you imagine the Agents shotting you and watching bullets wizz passed your ear after Neo has just dudged it again. What a spectacular experience that would be.
The Matrix started a new era of film creation. Let us not forget how other films have used the same effects and copied the Matrix, Comedy:Scary Movie, Children:Shrek, and the next time you see Bullet Time Photography in action, I bet you will think of the Matrix just as easily you would associate being eaten off the toilet by a T-Rex with Jurrasic Park.

Neil's right, The Matrix discovered a new style of photography which ultimately looked cool and amazed people with its ground breaking effects.

The sequels will have to come up with something even more amazing to keep their watchers enthralled.

I wouldn't say the matrix has started a new era of Film making, only introduced and developed innovative photography styles. And you can't call Shrek or Scary movie developments on the styles, only making a joke of the scenario really.

I think the original concept was better than the whole film, although I really like it, I don't think it was narrated in the best manner.

Laurence Fishburne made the film though.

I don't think it was really heralded as the best film ever made was it? I love The Matrix, and it really did give the action genre a good kick up the backside that it needed. But the only reasons you see it parodied/used so much is that no matter how cool bullet time is, other movie makers are so devoid of ideas, they'd rather nick someone else's.
