There came to a man a vision
To whack a helpless square around
The screen of his television
With friend nearby and controller poised
He twiddled and pressed in joy
"If only I'd had this great system
Way back when I was a boy!"
Whilst eating cheese by unlaundered socks
He soon broke out in song
His nose, it seems, was prominent
When he named his new game, "Pong!"
It was not long before others saw
And made their own games too
Commercial ones with coin slots in
In pubs outside the loo
Walls of bricks and alien hordes
Did come to us in droves
To feed us hungry punters with
Much more than fish and loaves
Home systems were akin to us
To the previous mentioned fillets
To play the games we'd seen outside
For hours instead of minutes
Those first few years it must be said
Gave consoles way too crappy
To reproduce those classic games
Without them looking scrappy
The best games though were not to be
Found lounging in arcades
For consoles only they were formed
The best we'd ever played
More depth could be imbued in them
More gameplay was the fashion
Experience of this gen'ration
Is sure recalled with passion
With advances in technology
The home games matched away
The arcades lost their pulling pow'r
As players at home did stay
This latest group, some still to come
Are promising things great
Our hunger still unsated craves
More food upon our plate
