what a wonderfull gaming experiance! I remember a few years back the first time i ever played grand theft auto on my pc. I was amazed at what i saw. a game where you can kill innocent people just for the fun of it! steal cars, run from the cops, mow over lines of monks, just cause chaos! I had never seen anything like it! I spent hours and hours just running around shooting up everything i could find! it was great! then when i actually got into doing the missions it got even better! that game had virtually infinite amounts of replayabilty! It reminded me of when i was i kid and i used to run around playing cops and robbers exept 10 times the fun factor!
Now It's Really Time To Have Some Fun!!! Not to far of Grand Theft Auto 3 will be released, and mark my words, this WILL be the greatest game of the year!
but i was just commenting on how i didn't find them very special at all....
i'm not asking for realistic graphics either....just there're a bit bland that's all....seems like an old sort of pc game.....
Graphics aren't the be all and end all. I *hope* the Getaway is awesome. It certainly looks the part. But the gameplay has been conspicuous by it's absence up till now. And I remember one preview saying that the streets of London were the quietest he'd ever seen them...... Could be great, could be a dog's dinner...... Maybe the developers will need a getaway car themselves.....
A full 3D free roaming environment for a game that is still months away from release and it looks a bit bland?
Well, yes and no. We are surrounded by eye candy (no, not him) whenever we go to the games shops. Games are coming out that are incredibly realistic, the whole X-Box thing is based on THOSE screenshots, (everyone hated it until they saw DOA3). The gaming public won't buy a game unless it looks great and it plays great, except the Americans - Army Men - because they are a bit dim.
The current standard of graphics is very high. Games are coming out and they are looking nicer than ever, now that processing power allows, though some games are sat in development for ages and ages, so they can create this stunning experience to shock the world with.
The Getaway. This is one of my most anticipated games ever. A full photo-render of Soho? Car damage? Facial expressions? The Guy Ritchie storyline? Even people who hate the PS2 has to agree that it looks stunning. But we arent going to see it for a long time as making a game of that quality takes a lot of time and money.
The trouble is, is that people see these stunning games, Getaway, MGS2, GT3, and get used to the graphics. Anything released subsequently will be compared to the killer apps, and slated because they do not graphically keep up, regardless of wether or not its a good game. It's good as it forces developers to keep up, but bad as people will ignore a good game if it doesnt look as good as this other game...
Just because GTA3 doesnt look like The Getaway at the moment, who cares? GTA and GTA2 had completely rubbish graphics! The game saved it by being a great game.
Play your Master system for a month. You'll appreciate your PS2 a lot more.
