If the Xbox is made by Microsoft and the graphics chip is made by Nvidia the Xbox might have a circuitry set up similar to a normal computer. If this is so than u could change bits and peices round if u wanted to like a pc. For example:give the Xbox more ram or switch the cpu for a better one. If this is he case personalised Xboxes are a posibility which would give it a longer lifetime.

While im on the subject of lifetime Billy joe Gates has signed up the huge number of computer game makers for the PC to make games for the Xbox. The PC has been round for ages and the incredible games keep pouring in which will give us a long line up of WIKIDYWAKASS GAMES.

Read and ponder my friends, read and ponder.

To add to the bartender's points:

Looking through history, ANY upgrade that doesn't come with the console has failed... with the exception of the expansion pack on the 64.

The Mega CD and 32X failed because, without a market developers didn't make games. Without games, there was no market!

With the 64DD, there were simply too many delays, and even had the console had big lauch, there were not enough games.

Even further back, the Jaguar CD failed!

The only reason the expansion pack succeeded is because:
1) It was cheap
2) Some AAA games NEED it
3) Some games came with it!

I believe I argued this point some months back.

It annoys me.

The idea of a console is that there is a standard. You only have to buy it once and you can play any game released for that console at the same quality everyone else is playing it.

Unfortunately, it seems console manufacturers have ignored this and more and more we are seeing consoled with "upgrades" etc. I think it is only a matter of a couple of years before consoles become very mich like PCs and will constantly require upgrades of some form to be able to hack the latest games.

Needless to say, this rips off the unwitting consumer (and a lot of console owners are witless, no offence, but it's true. Not all of them are, but a lot of them.) who soon finds that a month after buying his console, he has to shell out £50 because no-one makes games for his console at his current spec anymore. PC owners accept this risk, and there is a certain amount of pride that goes into ensuring that your PC can handle ANYTHING. We acknowledge and accept the cost of such competition. But console owners do not, and should not accept this.

If consoole manufacturers want a higher spec console, then they should have considered that when designing the console in the first place. They spend hundreds of millions researching and designing the damn things, the least they can do is get it right first time.
