"Help needed with tables (for a website)"

I'm having a few probs with this new website I'm making. What I've got currently is two tables - one at the top of the page which only contains one cell (or whatever you vall them) and is the width of the page, and the other just below, consisting of three cells next to each other. What I want to do is put a background image in each cell. Is this possible?

I used to use IE but now I know built-in IE browser in AOL6.

Background images and colours for tables only work in Netscape if you have some text or an image within the cell - very annoying!

Backgrounds definitely work in the Linux version of Netscape 4.7, so it's very likely they're supported in all versions. After all, I think it's part of W3C's specification.

if you put the BACKGROUND="BG.jpg" bit into the table's code, like you would using the Tag, then that should work, but as far as I know, only for Internet Explorer 3.0 and higher... not to sure if Netscape supports it, but then most people use Internet Explorer, so I think that should be cool.....

like, for what you seem to want:

Background Image 1
Background Image 2	Background Image 3	Background Image 4

.. I think thats what you'd need, but hopefully you get the gist.... fingers crossed.
