I didn't, I got the day off.
Had a bit of a lay-in, but really had to get on with some work in the garden, as we're putting in a kind of patio area.
So most of the morning was spent pulling down this bit of old fence and lopping branches off an overgrown tree/bush thing.
Anyway, come the end of the morning it turned out I was going to need some curvy nail type things to put my new fencing up with.
(Keep reading, there is a point to this post, honest!)
So I took the family to a DIY store. Damn I'm middle aged at 23?
Anyway, after 'focus' we ventured into Powerhouse.
It was here that I joined the revolution.
The DVD revolution, that is.
I went for a Sanyo 'HomeCinema Kit' with 5 speakers and a 'Sub-woofer' (anyone kind enough to explain to me what that's supposed to do?!)
But before I was able to fiddle round with my pricey new toy, I had to finish the chores out in the garden.
So we got the two bits of fence panel type stuff up, and realised we needed more. I continued to cut at branches until I stepped into a stinging nettle.
It stung, so it was time to put down the tools and play with my new toy.
So I got all the bits out, but decided it was best to wait until the lil' kiddy-wids were tucked up in bed before I got behind the TV to set it up.
Now I have to say that it had the worst instructions ever! But after much fiddling about putting my differnt leads into different slots (I've always been one for experimentation!) I got my TV picture back, and could here the DVD playing.
It was then I discovered the 'Video' button on the TV remote, and could actually see the picture of the DVD!
I have to say, I was highly impressed! The picture quality is nothing short of outstanding, and the sound is simply awersome! I can't wait to place all of the speakers around the room properly, and sit and watch a whole film start to finish!
I would say why did no one tell me that DVD was this much better, but you did, I just didn't believe it.
I'd heard people say 'once you've seen a DVD you'll be converted' andI thought it was just trash talk, but it really is that much better a movie watching experience.
Add to this all of the extras they stick on a DVD and it really does become quite apparent, films are much better on DVD.
Mind you, I'm not getting rid of the VCR just yet, I've got The Carpenter to watch, after all, I just have to go back behind the TV, get a few more wires, and get it all working nicely together...
