So, should Celtic and Rangers be allowed into the English Premiership?

My opinion is no - they have their own Premiership, and they should stay in that. If they're concerned about the lack of credible opposition, then maybe they should help the others out in some way.

I also don't think it's right due to the travelling distance involved for both sets of fans in away games - moreso for the Celtic & Rangers fans than the English teams. Unless they plan to relocate, of course!

However...

If they are allowed into the English league, they should in no way be given automatic Premiership entry. If they do join, I think they should have to work their way through the leagues like every other team. It's not right that they be given preferential treatment and get straight in to the top flight.

It may be easy for them, but they shld still have to do it.

No way should they be allowed to join the Premiership - Its not our fault the Scottish league is just a mickey mouse competition - It wont help them get anywhere further in european competitions either by coming to England!!
They should contribute money to all the other Scottish teams and make the SPL atleast a worthy enough competition!!

The premiership doesn`t need Rangers or Celtic regardless of the fact they are bigger clubs than most. The Scottish clubs have seen players snub them for teams in the bottom half of the premiership and are jealous that the likes of Derby , Middlesboro and Ipswich can attract Ravanelli, Boksic and Finidi George. Celtic were reported to have paid Henrik Larsson his annual wage with their total yearly money they get from t.v rights in Scotland. Their argument would be that if they were playing in England they would have better competition , more money to pay bigger wages and could attract bigger names to their clubs. If they left the SPL it would virtually kill off Scottish football even though the SPL would be a close fought competition. If the old firm do move south and with all the travelling the Rangers fans would be doing , would they still have time to blow goats. .hhm probably.

Best idea in ages. FIFA or UEFA (one of them) have given the go-ahead for this move, so it should happen pritty soon. Its pritty obvoius that the scotish league is too easy for them.

To better themselves they need to be playing in a top flight league or they will be forever failing in Europe. We got Welsh Teams in the English league, so why not scotish teams?

I think Celtic and Rangers have already proved them selves goo enough to be put stragiht into the premiership. It would be weird seeing them in Divison 3 or whatever.

They both have huge staduims, bigger than most English clubs. Another thing is i dont see traveling too much of a problem. The UK isnt the biggest country in England, imagine what its like getting from one end of Germany to the other. Besides all the best Teams are in the north anyway :-)

So instead of Celtic and Rangers being 20 points ahead of evryone else, theyre gonna be about 50!

Im still all for the european league thing that a few people have suggested. That they get all the best teams from all the eurpoean league, and make them play eachother.

Travelling could be a problem, but if they had less fixtures they could accommodate for this.....

I think the Premiership and Sky Broadcasting may have a different view to making Celtic and Rangers work up through the ranks, because the money involved must be in the usual 'astronomical figure' amounts for the TV rights and so on.

But where would they fit in? The Premiership already has a reduced number of teams in it to keep their league fixtures low so that they can compete in other competitions more often, adding two more would increase this, and the number of games that the clubs involved in European competitions would increase by four per season.

Unless they just kicked an extra two teams out at the end of one season to make way for the Scottish teams.

Personally I think they should stay where they are, it gives the other clubs something to aim for, but perhaps they should increase the size of the Scottish Premiership to 20 to make it more interesting for the fans.

Personally I think that Celtic and Rangers management have their eyes on the money that's floating about in the Premiership and not on the game itself, which is a pity.
