I know this might be the wrong forum to discuss this in but it has to be said. I think that game developers these days are making it far too easy for us to cheat in games. I personally support the fact that Rare have made their two best shoot-em up games harder to cheat with by making the cheats screen unusable when attempting to finish a mission which you have not completed normally. Don't get me wrong, I like cheats which can be used to have fun ie. Enemy Rockets, DK Mode & Tiny Bond, but I believe using cheats to progress through a game is wrong. I also believe that there should be cheats which can be accessed to finish a mission for those people that cannot finish games on their own, I just think that you should have tried your best before turning towards these cheats - therefore I also think that Rare's decision to deny there being any coded cheats to Goldeneye until just recently was the right one. Alternatively I have no problem with the use of strategy guides because they still demand a certain degree of skill from the player. Now to my next point: Champs. Any person who can finish a difficult game without cheating has earned the right to be called a champion. Similarly, if you can flog all your friends and family (they must have some degree of skill) at multiplayer games then you can also call yourself a champion. A person who uses cheats to finish a game or inflicts defeat after defeat on terrible players in multiplayer does not deserve to be called a champion. Camping. In some games, camping is not only smart to do but necessary to win. For example, take the Farsight XR-20 in Perfect Dark, a gun with a target locator which can shoot through walls - with this gun camping is necessary as it is impossible to aim in close range fighting. However in other games camping is wrong, like Goldeneye. For instance, in this one game I played against my brother and his friend, my brother's friend sat camped out in the body armour spot in the Temple with an RCP-90 and we just couldn't get him. Any damage we did was just repaired by the body armour. Eventually I charged him and wiped him out but I continued to prey on him for the rest of the game. The moral - camping just annoys everyone and when you do finally leave or get killed, everyone will hunt you down for the rest of the game. These are my opinions on the 3 C's.

RJ, next time you make such a good point, do it in the future of gaming forum- it's where most people post messages on just about everything.

Anyway, as for the cheating I think that you're spot on. I love cheats that enhance the gaming experience rather than destroy it. The only thing I don't agree with is that there should be some way of letting people go onto the next level if they have tried their best, but still can't do it. I think that a better idea would to be some sort of option in a game where you can forfit a mission. This should come with some sort of drawbacks, for example, not getting a power up or missing out on a secret latter in the game. That way, you can keep playing the game, even after you get stuck on one mission, but still have incentive to keep playing that mission until you complete it.

As for the guides, I think you're completly right. After I had completed Zelda, I could hardly be bothered to search out every Skulltula in the game. It's just too boring- the oposite of what games should be. The same applies to games that just seem to go on and on, eg. Soul Reaver. I did most of that game with a guide, not because I am crap at games (I'm quite good actually), but rather to get the satisfaction of coming face-to-face with the bosses and then working out how to kill them myself. It kept me going right to the end of the game, and made sure the game kept the fun factor that it should.
