Sorry not trying to start an argument but this was getting lost inthe other thread.

I originally tipped Villa for the last relegation spot it was only after their last signings that I thought they would finish about 16th.

They have lost all their defensive strength. In southgate and ehiogu they had two of the best defenders in the league but they sold them and no longer have a good defence. They have two good keepers. Schmeichel should be good for at least this season. And Enkelman for the future. However John gregory's answer to everythng is "lets buy another forward and everything will be alright" THis leaves his team weak at the back. Admittedly he has bought olof Mellberg a class defender but on good defender does not make a defence. Gregory who is currently a poor manager but maybe come stronger in the future needs to retink his gameplan and strengthen the defensive regions before frittering away more funds on a striker.

Also, we have a realitively small strike force, our four main strikers are Angel, Vassel, Balaban and Dublin. We needed some new faces up front because we were getting no where with big Dion up front on his own.

OK, so we have a bad defence? I don't think so.

We play 4-4-2 now and our four defender consist of Mellberg, Alpay, Delaney and Wright (or Barry). Did you see the Man Utd match?

Mellberg - Never backed out of a challenge and is great in the air.

Alpay - Same sort of player as Mellberg, never one to back out of a challenge and is a great defender.

Delaney - When we played Man Utd, he had Giggs in his back pocket, how many people can you say have done that?

Wright - Linked up well with kachloul and didn't give beckham to much space.

How can you say that this is a bad defence?
