Not a very detailed topic, but nonetheless I'll still reply. A good game like you said all depends on what you like, I prefer planning then going in guns blazing, so Red Alert 2 and Black and White are both games I enjoy. So create a good game for me would be to, have thousands of options because with a strategy you can complete everything and still play on them and enjoy them.
I think replay value is important to any game - Whats the point in purchasing a game if you play through it once and forget about it - Definately long term appeal!!
like power rangers (one of my friends has got it and its crud) for the n64. i was at my friends for about 2 hours and i completed it.
All that eyecandy said and lastability as well, I can't stand games that you can complete in an afternoon of play.
