Hello,

Was thinking of getting my PS2 chipped, so I took off the lid to check out what version I had and I found it was a version 5 machine.

When put back together, the machine had a problem were most of the bass seems to have disapeared from the opictal out sound port. The sound from the analog leads is still fine, just problems with the optical part.

Has anybody got any ideas as to what the problem might be? and how can I fix it?

Any help will be very welcome.

Shouldn't you have got someone else to figure out the Version, or found it out some other way, Dorchard1978?!

I dont know why its like that but you could take it to a shop and ask them to try and fix it.

Unless playstations have a 3 year warrenty, I don't think that I will too worried about it.

Not taking your machine apart is a good place to start.

Even without getting it chipped, your warranty is now invalid. Good luck getting it repaired! :-)
