The N64 was the last console to arrive out of the last generation of consoles and it paid dearly for it. Though it was the best console out of the Saturn, Playstation, and N64, due to its late arrival it didn't quite fare aswell as it could have.
So will the delay of 2 weeks for the American launch cause the same thing to happen again. I for one hope not. I've heard rumors that the X-Box is gonna be short supplied on launch, so lets hope that it also gets delayed or doesn't have enough X-Box's to go around on launch. The only remaining good point is that even though the American launch is delayed, the Japanese launch of Gamecube will be way ahead of the X-Box's over there, so there's no worry of trillions of Japanese ppl lapping up the Gamecube.

the only problem with the jap release of gc is that there will only be 3 game released....that's a bit too little....and they only plan to release another 7 before christmas...
at least when it gets released in uk it will have plenty of games by then (too bad i won't be getting one though)
i can't remember where i read this but i'm not lying....

The Japan release date was delayed so that Nintedo could have enough consoles on the shelf of the release day. Nintendo would of been releasing firt but after they changed it X-Box would be coming out first, but if you look on the news on ukgames.com the X-Box release has been delayed by a couple of months.

Here is the story from ukgames.com

Xbox slip levels the score
Web posted on 24/8/01
According to sources, the Xbox will now NOT be released in Japan this year, a possible four months after predicted dates.
Game most definitely on. After the announcement yesterday that the Gamecube would be released two weeks later than previously thought (putting it behind the Xbox), it seems the score has been levelled. Reports from the LA Times suggest that the Japanese launch will be delayed, and may not even happen this year - that's about four months after Microsoft's initial prediction. The American Xbox date still stands at November 8th, a full ten days ahead of the Gamecube.

Who said console wars are boring? Crazy fool! This is the best war ever, and it's only gonna get better!

I don't think Nintendo have got anything to worry about, the japanease market aren't even intrested in the Xbox. I can't see that people are gonna change there minds and buy an Xbox because it comes out 2 weeks earlier, its a lot more expensive and most people won't even look at it twice because its made by Microsoft. The sort of market the Xbox is aiming at has already been claimed bye the PS2, I can't see how its gonna suceed.
