I've noticed that the DVD player can give some probs.

I've had a few that skip and jump, thought they were the discs, then got a dedicated player and no problemo.

Plays games fine and I know it ain't the discs.
Just sometimes the DVD doesn't want to work that well.

I think it's better horizontally and it'll save you £10 for a stand, My mate had a problem with the "she's all that" disc which justs stopped half way through. dunno why.

Wookiee`s spot on with the lying it horizontally thing. I now have mine horizontally under my TV, which allows Jaws to work correctly, but before, it was vertical, and skipped chapters 15 and 16.

Do you have your PS2 standing vertically? If so, lay it flat and try again.

On some of the older machines there's a slight problem with the DVD laser, and if your disc is slightly warped (as can happen - though it may not show visibly) then the laser can't read properly as it moves to the outside of the disc and the warp of the disc gets worse.

If it works lying flat, leave it like that. If it's already flat and isn't working, phone Sony on 08705 99 88 77 and they'll have a new machine to you in 48 hours. Have your old machine ready to go back with the courier.

Woah, slow down.

Here are the problem(s):

> Your disks are scratched.
> You have double sided DVDs where you have to flip them over in mid-film.
> You put a dual-layerd disk in incorrectly.
> You got a bad PS2 (not very likely tho, they've sorted it all out.
