First of all I am an unrepentant Nintendo enthusuast, i become dazzled with every single Nintendo offspring concieved (i.e the games) under the helm of the mighty Kyoto headquarters of Japan. But Recently I have become a little ' on the search for a Title on PS2 that would entice me to get to buy a PS2' and after numerous occasions of carefully examining each video of Metal Gear Solid 2, its release can only come soon... can it?
Its a series of games that i have always loved, Solid snakes appearance on PS was a wonderful occasion, a game which i loved and treasured. Atleast ive played the demo, from here ill share what ive experienced from that and of course convention videos of the game such as at E3.

First of ill start with the guards and general A.I. the guards have a number of area specific 'damage points',that ive noticed, so rather than just pepper them as you would have before, you can now pick your shots, take out a knee cap or two and the characters will be more than a little slowed down, wing them and they'll make a bid to get out of the fray and call some pals, alternatively a well placed head shot will put any bodies lights out. But beware because in this evolution in the series making a mess is not desirable and leaving a trail of blood will lead a number of super soldiers straight to you. Stealth is still at the games heart and Snake is given a number of new sneaking moves, including a ledge grab (for which he can do finger press ups to improve grip) as well as a number of improved close quarter martial arts moves. A welcome addition to the weapons arsenal is the dart gun, which fires 'spiked' darts and works in the same way as the conventional weaponry, only with this baby you'll need to be a little more careful, nailing a guards neck will send the tranqulizer agent right to brain and have him sleeping like a baby, miss time yourshot and a number of interesting possibities will arise. If you catch him in the head the dart can kill him and this will leave you with a body to dispose of, nail his arm and it'll go limp, he might try and return fire with his bad hand or split in search of back up. (The stealth engine is so refined that Kojima claims the game can be completed without killing anyone. {but the designated bosses.)
AI and Stealthing aside What is facinating about Metal Gear SOL'2 s gunplay is that missing your shots has an equally facinating and no less impressive result. Stray bullets can literaly hit anything in the 'background' and said items and surfaces will respond accordingly. Accidentally shoot a box of vegetables and cabbage leaves and chunks of carrot will cover the floor, shoot out a cabinet of wine classes and they'll all shatter convincingly.

But all those amount to is nothing more than pretty extras, but thankfully the meat of metal gear has been given as
comprehensive a make over. The stealth engine is now more refined and backed up with an excellent action one, and the visuals are raised to as high a level as anyone is entitled to expect given todays technology and the plot looks to have taken off smoothly, from the previous outing and moved the action to a vastly different and refrshing back drop.

Speaking of plot here's a quick rundown. The inital plans for metal gear rex have slipped onto the black market, and in the interviening years a number of hostile nations have come into possetion of their own metal gears, the US government as always is aware of the this mounting threat and constructs a prototype walking battle tank for the sole purpose of taking on and ultimatly down, rouge rex units. The new model the Metal Gear Manta Ray is being transported in a top secret gunship bound for New York. Typical too isnt it? a typical New York scenario, but you cant help avoid the the tension that seems to exist within the game and indeed the relative stealth that outshines anything that has gone before.
The PS2 Is on to a sure winner with this one, It certainly will tempt many to buy the system such as myself and is really a title next to many Nintendo titles that money will be set aside for.

A pregnant women ay? That could be interesting. But you've got to ask yourself, would anyone not play a computer game just because it is morally flawed?

Oooo.... that gives me an idea for a topic.

MGS2 is excellent and will make alot of people buy a PS2, Most of the PS2 titles are updated versions of old games but in about 2 months time all the good games will finally be released.

I can understand the added realism...but a pregnant woman is a little strange.

Well, it's about time games placed the character into difficult situations. makes the game more realistic, I reckon.
