21 days from Today the first resident evil game for the PS2 will be released (horray), I've just been downtown even though it's extremly wet and was shocked to see the CVX boxes all over the shelves advertising the game. I've gotten word that the U.S version which is near enough exactly the same as ours is fantastic and except for some slight blurring in places it's as good as the dreamcast version in terms of anti analysing, graphics, gameplay and I've heard the sound has been tuned up a notch.

Code veronica X includes new FMV footage of Wesker, other moves (not sure which), Other parts and plot elements of the game capcom wanted to include but couldn't because of time. The full game will be on one DVD and is released on 14th September.

Also a limited DVD called Wesker's Report is bundled with the package but is exclusive to one store, The Japanese disc features unseen artwork, interviews and of course the 20 minute Wesker's Report. Capcom have cut the interviews out of the NTSC and PAL versions for reasons that they are in Japanese and would need subtitles so our DVD just has the report. To get this you will need to preorder before release.

Better yet in every package is a version 2 demo of devil may cry which looks amazing and most likely will not appear on the OPS2 magazine so if you want get a taste of this excellent game BUY Code veronica X. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a poor pal conversion.

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Big black borders is the only noticable thing. The speed feels the same, as we know no different, but the borders are unmissable.

Hence zoom in.

That border thing with Onimusha annoyed me at first, but I discovered my TV has a zoom function for letter box presentations, that allows me to almost perfectly trim it. A little of the top and bottom is missing, but nothing vital, so it makes it much better.

yeah tell me about it, CVX has a big black bar at the top and Onimusha is supposed to be another "poor pal conversion", on the other hand I'd rather that than extreme slowdown.

At least Extermination was full screen and not another Capcom PAL disaster.

I kinda agree,

it's the same kinda game implemented differently.

It's still a survival horor, it's got very similar monsters ect ect.

Everything's just that bit familiar about the game.

I only bought Extermination because there was nothing better to buy.

If it was realeased now of course I wouldn't buy it, I would wait for Code Veronica.... Which I'm sure will wipe the floor with Extermination.

All I'm saying is I won't be buying it (even though I'm desperate for a new game to play!) because I don't think I'll have the patiance to play through it after playing a very similar type of game....

huh, now there's sommin i didn't know, yeah the dudes with the "arm" look very similar to CV. I don't have extermination but from what I've gathered it's tomb raider, metal gear solid and res evil all rolled in one suvival horror package.

Alot of people say it offers alot but lacks in innovation, it has great combat maybe better than RE but just can't compare to the briliance of the RE series.

"It's fitting that the first true "survival horror" game for the PlayStation 2 was developed by a team made up of some of the original creators of Resident Evil, the series that made this subgenre of adventure gaming so popular in the first place. Make no mistake, Extermination is no Resident Evil, but, as its title might suggest, it at least offers a slight bit more in the way of action."

Thats from Gamespot.co.uk...

I've read something somewhere else that tells you who it actually was.....

It's obvious anyway if you actually play Extermination. Some of the Monsters are VERY similar to what you see in Resi Code Veronica.

I heard it was the same guy,

I can't remember,

hmmmm, wonder how we can find out...

Does anyone else know anything?
